QuickBooks Online Recertification for 2019

Written by Carrie Kahn

QuickBooks Online recertification for 2019 must be completed by July 31.

Last year the QuickBooks ProAdvisor certification due dates for QuickBooks online shifted to the end of July. The reason for this change was to allow ProAdvisors time to work on training outside of tax season. Each year ProAdvisors will have the choice to train either with full training or just cover what’s new since the prior year. We recommend going through the full training until you feel confident in your ability to use and support QuickBooks online.

The new training and certifications for 2019 have recently released. ProAdvisors will select the proper course and exam based on their level of certification, one for Core Certified ProAdvisors, and the other is for Advanced Certified ProAdvisors.

When you log in to the ProAdvisor training tab, it will be easy for you to locate Your QuickBooks Online Recertification Requirements to make recertification a priority. (See screenshot below.) You will have until July 31, 2019 to pass the exam.

Additional Information

Once the ProAdvisor successfully passes his/her recertification exam, the recertification category will disappear, and the training course will drop and appear in the lineup of other QBO courses for future reference (see screenshot below). We recommend reviewing and completing the other courses offered in your ProAdvisor program.

It is always a good idea to stay ahead of due dates and get all the certifications done by the due date. Not only is this important so that your find a ProAdvisor listing is up to date, but it also helps you be a better consultant for your clients. If you are bogged down during tax season, make this a priority to take care of as soon as tax season ends.

Also, keep in mind that there is a menu of programs offered for QuickBooks. The desktop version has been around since 1991 and is still alive and well. What we like to recommend to our clients is the right fit and as a result, this requires that we learn both versions the SAAS – QuickBooks Online Version and the Desktop – QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Enterprise, Point of Sale. In order to access the certifications and training on the desktop products, they are included in the Paid For ProAdvisor subscription as well as one-user not for resale license for your in-house use or to test as a sandbox. If you would like to learn more about the free versus paid options of the QuickBooks ProAdvisor program, you can learn more about the benefits of the program.
