2018 QuickBooks Conference Highlights

The Intuit Campus

Finally, at the end of the show, as a special guest in the VIP and Media Event, Kim Amsbaugh, Global Corporate Communications of Intuit’s Small Business Self-Employed Group, took us on a tour of the Intuit Campus where we got a peek into the culture of Intuit.

We reviewed their company values which are posted in every building. One of them is that they care and give back, and we saw it in action. The group was preparing food packages.

They were shipping sustainable food packages for an impoverished country. While we were there, they rang the bell because they had reached 2,000 pounds of food.

We also saw the Intuit Icon—the table where Scott Cook was sitting with his wife handwriting checks for their household bills when he had his classic “Eureka!” moment: Why not create software that would handle household finances? This is where the idea of Quicken was born, and in time evolved into an idea for small businesses to manage their finances using QuickBooks.

The QuickBooks event was an amazing one that reinforces the theme of the conference that we are better together. When we connect with others in our community, we become stronger. The Quickbooks community has a strong voice, and it was exciting to learn that Intuit has listened. We are seeing changes come to fruition that we have been asking for in Quickbooks and we know that we are on a great path.

Take It Up a Notch

Conferences can help take your business to the next level. There is a buzz of excitement from meeting new people, learning from the speakers and listening to inspirational talks at the keynote presentations. It is also a prime opportunity to network and connect with experts in the accounting world. Each conference has a different perspective and different demographic of people, and I learn something new at every conference I have ever attended, even after many years of working in this industry. It is also rewarding to receive recognition for the work that I have done over the years.

If you have never attended a conference in the accounting industry, I highly recommend you add that into your business plan goals for success in 2019!

Upcoming: Accountex USA | September 5-6, 2019 | Hynes Convention Center | Boston, MA
